DeenLock Privacy Policy
DeenLock ("we," "our," or "the app") is a faith-first screen-time and dua app for Muslims. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, where it is stored, and the choices you have.
If you have any questions, contact us at ask@trydeenlock.app.
1. Information we collect
DeenLock is designed to keep your personal data on your device wherever possible. The information the app handles falls into the following categories:
Stored only on your device (never sent to our servers):
- Your first name and the answers you provide during onboarding (age range, prayer frequency, sect, goals, commitment level, preferred mood)
- Your mood selections, dhikr tap counts, completed dua sessions, and streak history
- The list of apps you choose to block via Apple's Family Controls (the system never reveals these to us — we only hold opaque tokens)
- Cached prayer times for your city
Sent to third-party services (described in Section 3):
- City name and country (from your device's location) — sent to Aladhan to fetch prayer times
- An anonymous device identifier — used by RevenueCat to manage your subscription
- Your Apple ID purchase receipt — sent to Apple and RevenueCat to validate subscriptions
We do not collect:
- Your email address (unless you contact support)
- Your phone number
- Your precise location (only city / region)
- Contacts, photos, microphone, or camera
- Crash logs, analytics events, or third-party trackers
- Anything you write or read inside the dua, ayah, or dhikr screens
2. How we use your information
We use the information described above only to:
- Provide the app's core functionality (prayer times, dua matching, app blocking, streak tracking)
- Process and manage your subscription
- Respond to support requests when you reach out
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information for advertising or marketing purposes. DeenLock contains no third-party advertising SDKs.
3. Third-party services
DeenLock relies on a small number of third parties:
| Service | Purpose | Data sent |
|---|---|---|
| Apple StoreKit | In-app subscription purchases | Purchase receipt |
| RevenueCat (privacy) | Validates and tracks your subscription status across devices | Anonymous device ID, purchase receipt |
| Aladhan API (privacy) | Fetches prayer times for your city | City and country name |
| Apple Family Controls | Blocks the apps you select during salah windows | Opaque app tokens (the system never shares the actual app names with us) |
We do not share data with any party not listed here.
4. Children
DeenLock is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require account creation, login, or any personally identifying information to function.
5. Your choices and rights
Because most of your data is stored locally on your device:
- Access: You can see your streak, sessions, and preferences inside the app at any time.
- Deletion: Deleting the DeenLock app removes all locally stored data permanently. Cached prayer times, sessions, streaks, and onboarding answers are erased.
- Subscription management: Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID — go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device to cancel or modify.
- Restore purchases: Use the "Restore purchases" button in Settings to recover a previous subscription on a new device.
If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR / UK GDPR / CCPA (including the right to request a copy of any data we hold about you, the right to rectification, and the right to file a complaint with a regulator). Because we do not maintain a server-side database of personal information, most of these rights are exercised directly through the device. To make a formal request, email ask@trydeenlock.app.
6. Data retention
Information stored locally on your device persists until you delete the app or reset your device. Subscription records held by RevenueCat are retained for as long as your account is active and per RevenueCat's own retention policy. Aladhan logs are subject to Aladhan's own retention rules.
7. Security
DeenLock transmits all data over HTTPS. Subscription receipts are validated using Apple's standard cryptographic verification. Because we do not collect or store personal data on our own infrastructure, the risk surface is limited to your device, Apple, and the third parties listed in Section 3.
8. Changes to this policy
If we materially change this policy, we will update the "Effective date" above and announce the change inside the app prior to it taking effect. Older versions of this policy will be available on request.
